Garbage and Recyclables Handling
Garbage must be on the curb by 7:30 a.m. on Mondays and Recyclables by 7:30 a.m. on Thursdays. IF A STATUTORY HOLIDAY FALLS ON A MONDAY, SOLID WASTE CURBSIDE WILL TAKE PLACE ON TUESDAY. Only garbage in a “WESTPORT” bag will be picked up.
Please Note:
- If either curbside solid waste or recyclables are found to be non-compliant, the material will be left at the curb with a sticker attached, identifying the reason for non-compliance.
- Garbage containing recycling or hazardous materials will be left at the curb.
- Residents that choose to utilize the Portland site directly will pay by weight for disposal (currently $0.09/lb; $10.00 minimum charge). Scrap steel (free), brush ($21.00/half truck load). Debit/credit card/cash are accepted at the Portland Landfill Site.
- Portland Landfill Site Hours: Wednesday & Saturday 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
